These terms apply to rides booked with Onyx Chauffeur through onyx-chauffeur.com or by phone.
Booking and payment
- You see a firm, all-in price before you pay. Gratuity is included. No card-processing fee.
- Payment is in full at booking for every booking type. Your card is charged the full locked total through Stripe. There is no deposit.
- Onyx confirms automatically when a chauffeur is available, otherwise within 60 minutes. If we can't confirm your ride, we refund you in full.
Card authorization
You authorize Onyx to charge the card used at booking for the full booked total. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged per the refund rules above.
Cancellations and refunds
- Standard rides: full refund if cancelled at least 24 hours before pickup; 50% refund if cancelled 6 to 24 hours before pickup; no refund if cancelled under 6 hours before pickup or for a no-show.
- SXSW dates: full refund if cancelled at least 72 hours before pickup.
- F1 race weekend and other 7-day event dates: full refund if cancelled at least 7 days before pickup.
- Weather and force majeure: rides affected by severe weather or events outside anyone's control are rebooked without penalty.
- If Onyx cancels: you get a full refund.
No-shows
Your chauffeur waits 15 minutes after the scheduled pickup time, or 30 minutes for AUS arrivals. After that, the ride counts as a no-show and is charged in full.
Wait time and changes
To add time, a stop, or another change, use your ride link or call us. Extra miles or time are collected at the time, by a payment link you approve. Onyx does not store your card, and nothing is charged later.
Hourly miles and extra time
Includes 25 miles per booked hour. Extra time (30-minute blocks at your hourly rate) or extra miles ($3 each) are collected at the time, by a payment link you approve.
Long-distance waiting and stops
Extra waiting time ($115/hr in 30-minute blocks) or added stops ($25 each) are collected at the time, by a payment link you approve.
Airport waiting and stops
Waiting beyond the included wait time or added stops are collected at the time, by a payment link you approve.
Passengers
Each vehicle carries up to 5 passengers.
Vehicle and conduct
Passengers must wear seat belts and follow the chauffeur's safety instructions. Smoking and illegal substances are not allowed. Damage to the vehicle or excessive cleaning caused by passengers may be charged. The chauffeur may end a ride if a passenger's conduct is unsafe.
Liability
Onyx is not responsible for delays caused by traffic, weather, flight changes or other events outside our control, or for items left in the vehicle. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any ride is limited to the amount you paid for it.
